What is a postpartum doula?

A postpartum doula supports the new mother and baby as well as the rest of the family during the first several months after birth.

Using holistic philosophies of well-being, Lynn draws on over 40 years of experience as a Maternal Child and Pediatric Nurse. She is also a Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Currently, she is learning Dynamic Body Balancing for moms and babies. This is a form of cranial sacral techniques that can help with relaxing stiff or sore areas of the body. It is also instrumental for babies to have more successful latches at the breast.

Lynn also offers nutritional suggestions for the new mother to enhance healing and well-being. This may include simple preparations of foods.

Her approach to supporting the family is to help the mother and her partner create goals for their time with Lynn. If possible, this can be done before the birth of the baby.

This plan may include in-depth education for breast or bottle feeding as well as evidence-based education for infant development and newborn care

Evening hours are also available, with advance notice, for tired parents who need an extra set of hands during the most trying time of the day.
